KMC - Making Waves Since 1979!

In the 1970s...
KMC owner and president Captain Ray Wadsworth built the first Liahona.
A few years later, the second Liahona was built.
Our cutting-edge, twin-screw, shallow-draft design caught the attention of industry journalists.

In the 1980s...
KMC's unique adaptations became desireable in the industry.
Several more KMC vessels were comissioned, constructed and sailed the seas.
Our unique design solutions to common industry problems continued to make the news.

1980 - Namorada
Ahead of her times by 18 years, the Namorada was built in 1980,
yet her exceptional capabilities earned her Boat of the Month in 1998.

Then came 4 more KMC vessels: The Order of Magnitude,
The Natalia, The St. Joe
, and the 3rd Liahona.

In the 1990s...
The industry was abuzz with talk of KMC's Halo vessel The Order of Magnitude for decades.
With an innovative, aerodynamic, fold-down mast, and an incredible 3000 hp gas turbine engine
which drove a hydro-jet propelling her to unheard of speeds of 54mph, or 49 knots, (unladen)
The Order of Magnitude became a legend of the industry.
Every industry magazine needed to cover the story.

The world stopped and watched a moment.

Laying a fat wake down in Seattle.

In the 2000s...
To improve the Alaska fishing industry,
KMC ventured into the forefront of fish processing technology,
and again made widspread headlines.
In the process, they still built vessels such as the Wild Salmon,
a processing vessel converted from a military landing craft.

In the 2010s...
Shifting gears once again alongside our evolving industry, KMC began drafting,
building, and setting sail with several all-new, innovative designs, such as
Seiners that also run dual-duty as popular and exceptionally capable Tenders.

Liahona IV- 2010
In 2010, KMC completed the Liahona, the first of a new line of limit seiners
which have been designed with the latest in 3D CAD tech.
The story was featured in a National Fisherman article.

2013 - The Whitey W.
KMC Built the Whitey W, named after Captain Ray's father's childhood
moniker earned by his white-blond hair.
The vessel was, ironically, Black.

2016 - The Cumorah
The Liahona was followed by the Cumorah, a revamped sister boat to the Liahona.

In the 2020s...
Steaming into our 6th decade of innovation, we have more exciting projects
in progress than ever before; including 80 ft Tenders,
amphibious vehicles and wave energy harvesters!

2020 - Captain Alaska
The Captain Alaska, the first of a new line of 80' by 24' tenders,
follows in the shallow draft, twin screw wake of it's uniquely capable predecessors.

In The Future...
KMC has designed several fresh new designs ready to be built. Will yours be next?
